How to prevent Flatulence :- A standard dictionary explanation is ‘presence of excessive gas in the digestive tract’. When this gas is expelled in the wind form it is called flatulence.
Flatulence might be embarrassing, but it is total natural and normal, although it can result in an uncomfortable feeling of bloating.
Preventing flatulence is easy. It is usually a result of incomplete digestion. What you might want to do is to simply avoid or eat less foods that lead to such a condition.
Foods such as dairy products, certain vegetables like beans, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli corn and fruits like apples, pears, peaches and prunes can cause some people to have excessive gas.
Foods that produce minimal gas include rice, bananas, citrus fruits, grapes, eggs, yogurt and non-carbonated drinks.
How to prevent Flatulence
Excessive gas is often produced after eating high fat mean. The solution is to eat smaller, more frequent meals rather than 2 or 3 large meals. Don’t overeat. Keep the stomach one-third empty after a meal.
Some people tend to swallow air while they eat. They are usually unaware of this and the cause maybe hurried eating or anxiety. Being aware that air is being swallowed helps; the solution is to eat slowly and chew the food throughly.
Cooking also helps in reducing some of the offending gas-producing ingredients in the food. The gas-producing potential in beans can be decreased by boiling the briefly and then letting them soak or just by cooking them longer. Steaming the beans and other gassy food is always a good idea.
Drinking water or liquids half-an-hour before the meals instead of drinking with the meals, helps in better break-down and digestion of the food.
Since flatulence is also result of bad digestion, developing habits and routines that help the stomach to digest better is good idea. A short walk after eating is a definite help for better digestion.
Keep in mind that almost any food or combination of foods don’t get along together in certain people. Some people may say that they feel bloated if they eat fruits with proteins or when they eat proteins and starches requires keeping track to trace the offending food. Once you discover such foods, eliminate them fro your diet or eat them in small portions.
